art in the rain

It’s been cold and wet in Canberra the last couple of days – so the obvious thing to do was to get out and about!  I’ve been staying with a friend in Cook, so went for a walk up nearby Mt. Painter.  Came across an area where tussocks of grass had been up rooted and left scattered about – could there be a wombat about? Something else?  Fairly sure it wasn’t human activity.  Anyway, as some cold rain started to blow in off the mountains, I made a funny grass man.

Hey Pete – You’ve probably just replanted a heap of Chilean Needle Grass. I would say that the conversion from botanist to artist is just about complete. The berries look like some kind of melon. Very envious of your recent and current trips, I am looking forward to seeing more of your ‘farting about’.
    Cheers

Hey Al – yeah I did think of that (ie the grass being Chilean Needle or something else just weeded) though if it was they did a bad job of it – there was plenty left growing happily nearby, and why not remove that which was grubbed up? As for melons – well they look like it in the pic with those vertical stripes, but they are only tiny, like a cherry tomato, and largely hollow – but yes, I think full conversion is very near.
